  1. Give It All You Got

Wow, last night’s Game 7 was awesome and the series between the Warriors and the Thunder was excellent! With both teams extremely talented, it was fun seeing so many star players put on incredible performances. The Warriors showed that winning in the playoffs requires guys to bring their best and not hold anything back if they want to pull out the tight wins. Warriors’ Draymond Green summed up this mentality well in his comments before Game 7: “It’s Game 7. Game 7s are tough regardless. Both teams are going to leave…

  2. Dropping Weight

Last season, Green Bay Packers’ running back, Eddie Lacy, posted career-low totals in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He’s a talented runner, but after the season his coach, Mike McCarthy, raised concerns about Lacy’s conditioning by saying, “He cannot play at the weight he did this year.” Lacy listened and hired the fitness guru who created the P90X workout, Tony Horton, to help him out. Apparently, after two months of training and being diligent about his eating and workouts, Horton estimated Lacy lost between 15-20 pounds. He will have to…

  3. The Desperate Warriors

The Golden State Warriors won 73 games during the regular season, but right now they are down 3-1 in their series with the Oklahoma City Thunder. It’s crazy how they are losing the series, and unbelievable how poorly they are playing. Game 4 was especially ugly with a blowout of 118-94. To turn the series around, Steph Curry and Draymond Green must return to their high level of play, and the team must slow down Russell Westbrook. Tonight, the Warriors face an elimination game and are absolutely desperate for a win. They desire to get…

  4. Staying Positive After Two Losses

After a 10-0 start to the NBA Playoffs, the Cleveland Cavs have dropped 2 losses in a row to the Toronto Raptors. This is surprising when considering they played so well during their first two wins of the series. I think most of us are confident the Cavs will get it together and still make it to the NBA Finals, but if I know anything about Cleveland fans, they are more than likely fighting negative thoughts and emotions. The history of this sports town includes many seasons ending in disappointment and…

  5. Judging Jameis

Jameis Winston came into the NFL as the # 1 pick last year after a very impressive college career that included a National Championship and a Heisman Trophy. However, with Winston’s questionable and highly publicized off-the-field behavior, the Tampa Bay Bucs were taking a chance on him. As a rookie Winston ended up putting those character concerns behind him, and surprising people with his successful performance on and off the field. He seems to have turned the corner, and made positive changes both personally and professionally. His new offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, recently said, “I think that’s one…

  6. Flagrant Fouls

During the NBA playoffs, players raise the intensity level with tighter defense and harder fouls. The series between the Cavs and Raptors is especially being played with more physicality. Slowing down LeBron James is almost impossible, but the Raptors are trying hard by practically tackling him when he drives to the basket. James is taking some hits, and guys like Bismack Biyombo are being called for flagrant fouls against him. To Lebron’s credit, he handles the “playoff fouls” pretty well. He understands that retaliating after a hard foul isn’t what’s best for his team. James recently gives this…

  7. Catching the Foul Ball

If you’ve ever caught a foul ball in the crowd at a baseball game, you know the rush of excitement you feel. You always hope you’ll be in just the right spot to snag that special souvenir. One of my memories is catching a foul ball that bounced off of the roof while I was getting a funnel cake! Last night, two young fans at the Dodgers-Angels game experienced the thrill of holding a foul ball that was hit into the stands by Albert Pujols. However, as you can see in…

  8. When Losing Leads to Winning

The Philadelphia 76ers were finally winners on Tuesday night when their name was chosen for the #1 pick in the upcoming NBA draft. Following three straight seasons of losing more than 60 games, they reaped the benefits of a continuous commitment to rebuild their roster through the draft.  A few years ago, management decided to trade for draft picks or young players. Their plan was to field a team that would allow them to lose a lot of games and lead to a better chance of drafting a top player….

  9. Refs Swallowing Their Whistles

Throughout the NBA playoffs, refs have been making countless questionable calls – especially during the last two minutes of games. There have been missed calls regarding fouls…traveling…and crazy out of bounds plays. Interestingly, the NBA league office has actually confirmed the many missed calls at the end of games, which affirms our belief that refs “swallow their whistles” in crunch time. Instead of getting involved by making the right calls, refs seem to choose the “no-call” and let players keep playing. Being a professional ref must be difficult at the end of a…

  10. Media Jabs

The NBA Conference Finals have begun, but the days leading up to the matchups have consisted of comments made by multiple players about guys from other teams. Spurred on by different motives, these subtle jabs have been going back and forth throughout the media. After Lebron James slighted Steph Curry’s MVP win, Curry responded by saying, “I’ve gotten good at ignoring people.” Russell Westbrook made comments downplaying Curry’s uniqueness, and Kyle Lowry got in the mix by telling ESPN’s, Doris Burke, that James was “one of the best players in the…
