  1. Tim Tebow Going For It

As sports fans, we love winning, success, and watching the best players in the world perform at the highest level. We enjoy the stories of players overcoming obstacles that result in victory. We mock the losers and discredit the teams who fall short. And then there is Tim Tebow. After experiencing success and failure in both college and the NFL, he’s now attempting to compete in a brand new sport – baseball. As he chases his baseball dream, there will be many opinions and comments made about him and his career. People will…

  2. Unexpected Injuries

Football is a wonderful sport with high-impact action and tremendous skill. Fans love seeing the big hits and watching the defense chase down a runner. Unfortunately, such extreme physical play often results in major injuries to players. Two guys, I root for, Tony Romo and Benjamin Watson, are out for at least half the season – Romo with a broken bone in his back and Watson with a torn Achilles. There is great disappointment in knowing they can’t help out their teams for the foreseeable future because of something they weren’t planning on happening….

  3. The NFL’s Latest Search

When watching or listening to football coverage, the news always seems to be about an NFL investigation…or an update that the NFL is conducting additional interviews…or the NFL is searching for more details regarding a team or player’s alleged misconduct.  From Deflategate to the current issue involving the Al-Jazeera report on performance-enhancing drugs, the NFL and Commissioner Goodell are continuously in the middle of something controversial. You could argue, however, that the NFL is constantly striving to make improvements to the league. By investigating potential problems and finding their solutions, effort is being made to stay on top of the…

  4. The Rookie

Every year NFL teams add new players to their roster through the draft. With no professional experience, rookies out of college enter a faster and more intense game with bigger and stronger opponents. Even so, first-round picks are expected to have an immediate effect on the team’s success as soon as they step onto the field. Since they are paid well and the team used their top draft choice on them, there is pressure to figure things out quickly and contribute from the get-go. The reality is, rookies are going…

  5. Greatness Worth Chasing

LeBron James recently sat down for a candid conversation with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols to discuss multiple topics, including his accomplishments and future aspirations. Earlier this month, a story surfaced about a comment he made to a kid at a basketball camp. When asked what is his motivation now that he’s won a championship for Cleveland, LeBron said, “My motivation is this ghost I’m chasing. The ghost played in Chicago.” Of course, LeBron’s comment created a media stir, since he was referring to Michael Jordan, so Nichols got him to expand on it further in her interview. He responded, “I…

  6. Lyin’ Ryan

The 2016 Olympics in Rio have officially ended. Overall, fans were entertained by the wide range of exciting events, the US achieved great success by winning 121 medals, and many athletes experienced happiness while making their dreams came true. Unfortunately, with all of the memorable moments making Olympic history, swimmer Ryan Lochte stole the most headlines. I’m sure you’ve heard the bizarre story by now – the fake one and the real one. Originally, Lochte and his teammates reported they were robbed at gunpoint. However, after authorities dug deeper, details revealed the group was actually forced to pay for damages that…

  7. Pushing Bolt to Gold

Last night, Jamaican track star, Usain Bolt, won his third straight 200-meter Olympic gold medal and his 8th career gold medal. When watching Bolt race, he dominates the field of runners while making it seem so easy. Canadian runner, Andre De Grasse, is a rising star who has developed a nice friendship and rivalry with Bolt. They had a great race in the semifinal of the 200-meter where De Grasse forced Bolt to step up his game and let him know he was right behind him. After the race, De Grasse said, “I had to push him a little bit, you…

  8. Overlooking Opponents

The USA Men’s Basketball team entered the Olympics as the clear favorite to take home the gold medal. Steph Curry and LeBron James aren’t playing, but the team is still stacked with elite NBA players and high expectations are understood. With so much talent on the roster, it was believed they would blow away the competition and dominate the rest of the world. However, despite the deep confidence the USA players and most onlookers had for the team’s success, they have struggled and shown vulnerability. USA only beat Serbia and France by three…

  9. Olympic Rest

The Olympics have proven to be excellent so far – with captivating events and intense finishes. When I take a step back to consider the commitment and effort these athletes demonstrate to compete at this level, it’s remarkable. Their dedication and sacrifice are greatly evident. It’s also clear that when these athletes finish a race or the Olympics end for them personally, they are absolutely exhausted. They’ve given all they have and are extremely drained. US swimmer, Ryan Lochte, recently confirmed this after his final race: “I need a break, mentally and physically.” He later said, “I…

  10. Synchronized Living

I have great memories of spending my summers at the pool as a swimmer, lifeguard, and coach. Although I’ve been on a diving board countless times, I hate to admit I’ve never been able to do a flip. With this fundamental feat out of my reach, I’m blown away when I watch what the Olympic divers do in the air. I’m especially impressed with synchronized diving – a must-see if you haven’t already watched this extraordinary event. Seeing two people dive, flip, twist, and land in the water at the same time is astonishing! It’s hard enough to…
