Four teams are remaining in the NFL playoffs, but for everyone else, their attention has shifted to the offseason. Many teams and key players are facing uncertainty and have lots of questions – especially when it comes to quarterbacks.

These are some of the unanswered questions:

  • Will free agent, Tom Brady, return for another season and if so, what team will he play for?
  • Will Aaron Rodgers retire, get traded, or return to the Packers?
  • What’s going to happen to Lamar Jackson’s contract in Baltimore and could he end up on another team?
  • The Raiders will trade Derek Carr somewhere, but will there be a bidding war between multiple teams?
  • The Colts, Panthers, Texans, Falcons, Saints, and Jets all face uncertainty at the quarterback position, so will they draft one, trade for one, or sign one?
  • What do the Titans do with Ryan Tannehill and Malik Willis?
  • Will Washington move on from Carson Wentz?
  • Will Taylor Heinicke leave and sign with the Bears?
  • Geno Smith and Daniel Jones each led their team to the playoffs, but what kind of commitment are the Seahawks and Giants willing to make to each guy?

One thing is clear, uncertainty surrounds the quarterback position and how everything unfolds will be fascinating to watch throughout the offseason.

Today, many of us are facing our own uncertainties in life. As we wait for answers, we may be asking questions like these:

  • Should we stay at our job or look for a new opportunity?
  • Should we sell our house or stay where we are?
  • Will we get pregnant for the first time or will we get pregnant again?
  • How will we afford to switch jobs and have other children?
  • How will we experience restoration in a broken relationship or get over the loss of a loved one?
  • How will we have the strength to navigate through an unforeseen health crisis of our own or that of a friend or family member?
  • What church should we go to and how should I serve?
  • What is the next step I’m supposed to take?

Although uncertainty is bound to surround us, the good news is we have a God who loves us and meets us right where we are. When questions swirl around in our minds and lead to worry and anxiety, God wants to give us clarity, guidance, and peace instead.

When we boldly seek Him, He’ll show us what to do and when to do it, but we must trust Him in the meantime. He will eventually make sure our uncertainty becomes clear, so we can move forward in His will.

The Lord promises us in Psalm 32:8 (NLT), “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:6-7 (AMP): “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].”

Today, let’s not allow uncertainty to overwhelm or derail us, but to be an opportunity to surrender, obey, and deepen our faith. Let’s trust God with our future and make decisions based on His direction.

As Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) encourages, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
