Curry Celebrates!

Published on June 6, 2016 | By
The Golden State Warriors have jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. What’s most surprising is that Steph Curry and Klay Thompson haven’t been the players leading the way. With the Warriors’ bench scoring 85 points in two games, many different guys are contributing to the team’s blowout wins.  Although Steph Curry has received plenty of praise and accolades for his incredible play all season long, he has been tremendously supportive and excited for his teammates’ time in the spotlight. In fact, last night we could see Curry going nuts from the bench when one of his teammates hit a big shot.   I enjoyed seeing him celebrate from the sidelines like he was one of the fans, and show genuine happiness for the success of others. This demonstrates how well the Warriors operate together, and that they just want to win - regardless of who is having the big game. When it comes to our own lives, do we find ourselves pleased when our friends, co-workers, and family have great accomplishments? Do we cheer for them when something special happens...or do we secretly question why them and not us? Do we find ourselves being competitive or getting jealous over their victories?   If we truly view others as being on our team, don’t you think we would have deep joy when they experience something worth celebrating? The Bible compares how our bodies being made up of many different parts is like the functionality of the body of Christ - each has a different role, regardless of some parts being weaker or appearing less important than others.   1 Corinthians 12:25-26 (NLT) explains further: This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.”   Today, let’s focus on “if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.”Let’s truly worship God for His goodness and faithfulness, while celebrating with others as they experience exciting blessings. I’m Bryce Johnson and you can unpack that! PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing me to be connected to the body of Christ with other followers, and help me to truly be glad when others are doing well and experiencing a season of tremendous blessing. As I patiently wait for my own answers to prayer, help me to be joyful about the excitement of others. Thank you that all good things come from You. Help me to love others better and be more team-oriented. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
